Happy summer! We’re finally done with school over here. It’s been a rough year for one of the kiddos, and even the others were dragging a little by the time the last day rolled around. This month is actually kind of busy — science camp, summer gym, VBS — but we can at least be a little more relaxed.
Well, they can. I’m NOT RELAXED because NEXT WEEKEND is The Big Ohio Book Con!

There are so many very cool authors attending. And also I’ll be there!

I’ll be in the Green section, table 2, with Lindsey Montgomery, who I don’t know but who looks very cool! I’ll have my usual haul of books, D&D adventures, bookmarks, and free candy. Stop by and say hey!
Also, The Way We Used to Walk is going to be on sale from the publisher during the month of June.

This sale is only for people who subscribe to the newsletter, so hit that up and get your 25% off! There are a few other LGBTQ books on sale as well, so why not pick up a few? Happy Pride!

Writing update: I’m done with draft zero of a novel that still doesn’t have a working title, so it’s currently just named “Shaw” after one of the main characters. I’m in the process of going through and making the beginning match the end, since some things changed during the writing of the draft. I wouldn’t say I’m settling in to a first full edit but I’m picking around it this summer and hope that by fall I’ll be ready to dive in seriously again.
I’m also working on another book related to Milk and Honey, Bitter and Gall. It’s only a few thousand words so far, but I’ve got a full two pages of notes and I’ve been thinking about it for some time, so I feel ready. I’m using this summer’s 1000 Words of Summer to get some real words down on the project. I’ll get a good start these next few days, and will also be able to lay tracks while we’re traveling. (I get car sick, but the two things I can do are 1) embroidery and 2) writing by hand as long as I don’t look at the paper too often.) I’m feeling good about the ideas I have down and look forward to carving away the wood to see the actual form of the thing as we go.
Enjoy your summer months, friends! Stay hydrated, enjoy nature, read a good book or four, spend time with loved ones, and be well!
