Another Thursday post, sorry not sorry!
This time of year is super busy. The kids have all sorts of special things going on, and my husband is in the middle of giving finals and doing tons of grading. I tried to snag some time for a walk and ended up at one of the parks relatively close to home.

I appreciated this little history sign at the beginning of the trail. There’s really nothing to see, just lots of bog and plains and some trees, but it was neat to be reminded of the history everywhere I walk, not just the designated and preserved historical places.

I also liked this piece of information. I had no clue the Continental Divide was so close to home!

Since it’s still early spring, this trail was also fairly deserted. I like that. Most days I don’t really want to be perceived by people. People on trails are generally just minding their own business, it’s not like they’re in my face talking to me, but still! Brains are dumb!
I don’t mind animal friends on trails, though. This bird was pretty neat.

The trail is just over a mile and a half which felt…long. I think it was probably because I was mulling over all the other things I had to get done. I’m never super good at it, but at this particular time it’s very difficult for me to live in the moment. Things are Happening! Stuff Needs Done!
So it goes.
One of the things that took some getting used to, moving from Pennsylvania to Ohio, is how flat things are here. I grew up in a hollow (“holla”) and I still get very Bilboish whenever we’re driving. “I want to see mountains, hubband! MOUNTAINS.”
The concept of a snow fence took me straight out.
This trail has a some very flat features, including this absolute wind tunnel on the back half.

Listening while walking podcast episode: Cryptonaut Podcast – The Zaragoza Goblin. (I love this podcast, it’s one of my favorites, but just a warning that it is super not safe for work or little ears!)
